Elopement is defined as "when a patient or resident who is cognitively, physically, mentally, emotionally and/or chemically impaired wanders away, walks away, runs away, escapes or otherwise leaves a caregiving environment unsupervised, unnoticed".
Wandering and elopement are common risks that can quickly lead to serious injury or death. Injuries associated with a senior’s elopement (disappearance) are failure that no one wants to happen on his or her watch.
These adverse events will damage your reputation, hurt your career, and potentially cause you to lose your job or business. As an owner or administrator it’s critical that you asses risk, implement good policies, and provide your employees with proper training. Your business, livelihood, and customers lives depend on it!
In this webinar, Jay Stowers, Owner and Managing Partner of Senior Risk, LLC, will share best practices and advice on how to develop policies that reduce Wandering and Exit-seeking risks. Participants will gain an understanding of assessment, what to watch for, and the components of a comprehensive elopement prevention program.
